This popular town centre pub is now a genuine freehouse after being purchased by the long standing licensees from the pubco, with up to seven cask ales mainly from micro breweries, many local to the area. There is no longer a permanent beer, but Sharps Doom Bar and York Terrier alternate with each other and there is often a dark beer at weekends. This pub is one room broken into three distinct areas. There are no nasty surprises here, the main entertainment being conversation. There is a pool table and darts board to the rear. It is very close to both Bus & Train stations and has no parking but there is a public car park across the road. Winner of numerous awards from local CAMRA branch.
